I have been feeling all creative this week! I always get like this before the start of the new season, I like to tinker with things, re-paint bits of furniture here and there, add a touch of wallpaper or fabric to make something beautiful again. My main project this week has been re-designing our office which was rather neglected during our refurbishment, in fact I am ashamed to admit it did become a bit of a dumping ground during the building work and then didn’t ever get properly sorted – the hotel inspector would be very cross with us as guests do get to see this area when they come to pay! But I will no longer feel the embarrassment as the work will start this week and not only will it be a beautiful study space it will also be a proper space for my sewing things! Hooray!

Here are a couple of my finished projects from this week – my new filing cabinet! As this started its life as a very boring Formica cabinet, I had to use the fantastic Annie Sloane paint to cover the yucky fake wood effect! Don’t get me wrong I am a Farrow and Ball girl myself but the only paint to stick to this baby is good old Annie Sloane Chalk Paint. I then decoupaged some off cuts of our Pip Studio wallpaper from room three I had left over and this is what it looked like

br />

However it just didn’t sit quite right so I tinkered some more! And I don’t think you can ever have too much ribbon in an office! I think our invoices and bank statements will look fab in this hey?

I have also been experimenting this week with decoupaging fabric onto furniture, I found this amazing little table in a little vintage shop in Newquay last year and have been dying to update it, such a cute shape and now even cuter painted in Farrow and Ball Clunch With a piece of fabric from one of my fave designers Greengate dk decoupaged to the top it looks ace and is destined for room 2 (I think! Although I love it so much it may stay with me by my side, wherever I go!)

I think I need to buy Barney a prettier cup to use!

Big love

Hello Everyone!

We have just arrived back from our amazing holiday in Samoens in the French Alps, where we had the most perfect conditions you could imagine! Fresh snow almost every night followed by beautiful sunny days! Check out our Facebook for some really cool videos of Barney actually snowboarding! All the French instructors were taking pictures of him! They hadn’t seen one so little do it before – We are kinda hoping he will make us YouTube millionaires! Proud mummy and daddy moment! Annoyingly we only have videos of him snowboarding and as a bit of a computer numpty I can’t seem to take any stills off of the video to post on here! But click on the link and you will see the little pro in action (18 months old – in case you were wondering hee hee!) – Oh well you will have to put up with some of Oz and I instead!

This was our first year snowboarding as a mummy and daddy but I think we can still totally rock it! The beauty of living in Cornwall, it’s a bit like Nevernever Land – and Oz is definitely Peter Pan!

Mojo came with us too as he always does but despite getting sore paws he still doesn’t think his snow boots are a good idea!! Not a happy puppy

So our yearly holiday is over and now on to excitement for the new season ahead – with the biggest news – we now have online booking!! and not only that, we have had our first actual booking made online! I felt so grown up! – But only in a playing, i’m still young and hip etc kinda way – ha ha! But now you can book with us anytime of the day or night! Of course if you would rather speak to me direct, I always love to hear from you!

My job for the next couple of weeks, will be painting furniture for the new apartment and for some of the rooms – the most exciting pieces I found in France, two gorgeous French bedside tables bought from this amazing Brocante that was just in an eccentric old mans back garden – I love them! Pictures to follow! Oooo I feel the creative juices stirring!

Big Love

Wow, what a year this has been! We began the 2012 season with a massive refurbishment which included brand new rooms and a total change of the outside too! We took the building back to it’s bare bones and pretty much started again! Poor Oz had to sleep with rain coming through the ceiling in the mid winter at times but it was all worth it in the end! We did have one mishap though – a burst pipe two weeks after re-opening – a few tears were shed that day i can tell you! We also had to shut for a considerable amount of time whilst it was all put back to how it once was! Very stressful!! But we then finished on a high, with a lovely summer and Seavista reaching Number 1 on trip advisor out of all the B&Bs in Mawgan Porth – ok so it is only out of 6 but we were still very happy! We have met some lovely amazing people this year, who despite all the doom and gloom, and slightly dodgy weather (I am sure we are due a fabulous summer for 2013!) came, donned their wet weather gear, and enjoyed all that Cornwall has to offer! and there is always a beautiful rainbow after a storm anyhow!

Having had Seavista for over 7 years, we have seen many people come and go in the Bay, this year however I have never felt more part of a community, perhaps it has something to do with this little fella but there has been a great buzz around Mawgan Porth this year, we have some amazing new restaurants – my favourite has to be the Cafe at The Park, where I am a very regular visitor, Scotty and Babs who run the cafe are so lovely and the food is out of this world – I have sent every guest that stays here to eat there and they never just visit the once! There is also Jon’s Bistro up the road at Bre-Pen Farm which has some very exciting reviews and really deserve to do well. The two big hotels in Mawgan Porth have also added some gorgeous new places to eat and their day spas are fantastic! I had a lovely spa day at The Scarlet this year, did not want to leave!! And lets not forget our lovely local pubs, The Merrymoor with its fantastic decking looking over the beach and The Travellers Rest a lovely local pub both with great food.

And so to next year! We will be keeping our rates the same as this year so as to help with all this depressing economic forecasting! But we also have some very exciting new developments to look forward to. There will be two self catering apartments available to rent for next season, ready in the Spring – one even has a hot tub! Bookings are being taken now so give us a call should you require any details! You can have bed and breakfast with the apartment too so perhaps the best of both worlds? And don’t forget the views!! We are also going to be running some detox weekends with yoga and holistic therapies (the same ones they have at the Scarlet!), keep an eye out for those – follow us on Facebook and Twitter for the most up to date info! Plus the thing I am most excited about are the in-room holistic therapies we will be offering here, Janey our lovely Neal’s Yard Therapist will guide you through a gorgeous massage or facial where you will find the ultimate in relaxation – I have tested the facial (well someone had too!) and I can vouch for the fact it is the best I have ever had! – and I have had lots!

I hope you have all had an amazing year and enjoyed all the festivities, we survived the End of the World so come on 2013!! I can’t wait!!

Love to you all
