Bye bye 2012, hello 2013!! Posted December 31, 2012

Wow, what a year this has been! We began the 2012 season with a massive refurbishment which included brand new rooms and a total change of the outside too! We took the building back to it’s bare bones and pretty much started again!IMG_1665 Poor Oz had to sleep with rain coming through the ceiling in the mid winter at times but it was all worth it in the end!  We did have one mishap though – a burst pipe two weeks after re-opening – a few tears were shed that day i can tell you! We also had to shut for a considerable amount of time whilst it was all put back to how it once was! Very stressful!! But we then finished on a high, with a lovely summer and Seavista reaching Number 1 on trip advisor out of all the B&Bs in Mawgan Porth – ok so it is only out of 6 but we were still very happy! We have met some lovely amazing people this year, who despite all the doom and gloom, and slightly dodgy weather (I am sure we are due a fabulous summer for 2013!) came, donned their wet weather gear, and enjoyed all that Cornwall has to offer! IMG_1816 and there is always a beautiful rainbow after a storm anyhow! 😉

Having had Seavista for over 7 years, we have seen many people come and go in the Bay, this year however I have never felt more part of a community, perhaps it has something to do with this little fella IMG_2384 but there has been a great buzz around Mawgan Porth this year, we have some amazing new restaurants – my favourite has to be the Cafe at The Park, where I am a very regular visitor, Scotty and Babs who run the cafe are so lovely and the food is out of this world – I have sent every guest that stays here to eat there and they never just visit the once! There is also Jon’s Bistro up the road at Bre-Pen Farm which has some very exciting reviews and really deserve to do well.  The two big hotels in Mawgan Porth have also added some gorgeous new places to eat and their day spas are fantastic! I had a lovely spa day at The Scarlet this year, did not want to leave!! And lets not forget our lovely local pubs, The Merrymoor with its fantastic decking looking over the beach and The Travellers Rest a lovely local pub both with great food.

And so to next year! We will be keeping our rates the same as this year so as to help with all this depressing economic forecasting! But we also have some very exciting new developments to look forward to.  There will be two self catering apartments available to rent for next season, ready in the Spring – one even has a hot tub! Bookings are being taken now so give us a call should you require any details! You can have bed and breakfast with the apartment too so perhaps the best of both worlds? And don’t forget the views!!  We are also going to be running some detox weekends with yoga and holistic therapies (the same ones they have at the Scarlet!), keep an eye out for those – follow us on Facebook and Twitter for the most up to date info! Plus the thing I am most excited about are the in-room holistic therapies we will be offering here, Janey our lovely Neal’s Yard Therapist will guide you through a gorgeous massage or facial where you will find the ultimate in relaxation – I have tested the facial (well someone had too!) and I can vouch for the fact it is the best I have ever had! – and I have had lots!

I hope you have all had an amazing year and enjoyed all the festivities, we survived the End of the World so come on 2013!! I can’t wait!!

Love to you all

Kate

Hi Kate, your new website looks FAB, all lovely and fresh and VERY inviting, looking forward to hopefully visiting again in 2013, and hoping for a bit more sunshine than 2012, but hey ho nothing can dampen the beauty of Cornwall.

Lucky You! That sounds like the most fantastic weekend! I’m originally from Bodmin and that part of the Cornish coast is my favourite place in the world except when I’m there it’s normally raining!Loving the blog by the way.

Thank’s Isabel! I will be posting more blogs soon, we have just been busy painting and getting bits and bobs ready for the season! You should come down in the June – it is a beautiful month usually the best weather and so quiet! 😉
